Black Dog from Manchester's cool end of town seeks a pedigree chum for Valentine's Day

One of Manchester's great cultural icons is struggling to get a date for Valentine's Day.

But it isn't Liam Gallagher, Ian Brown or Shaun Ryder who want to get their paws on a lady - the luckless romantic is the mutt who inspired the city's drinking hole the Black Dog Ballroom.

In the heart of Manchester's Über cool Northern Quarter, mop-topped indie kids have grown to love the bar's resident pooch Bruce.

But Bruce still struggles with the bitches and so his owners have tried to get him a date.

The advert reads: "Athletic 4 year old male, 3ft tall, 22lbs with black hair and brown eyes currently seeks playful pooch who enjoys the outdoors, American-style food and is unfazed by fame."

Any pooches who fancy their chances with Bruce are encouraged to send their credentials to the bar's Twitter or Facebook page and the successful suitor's owners will be treated to a slap up meal in the bar.
